The City of Mission's contract with Waste Management for residential trash, recycling, and yard waste collection is set to expire on December 31, 2019. Through a competitive bid process, the City Council selected WCA as the City's new solid waste collection provider. The contract will begin on January 1, 2020. As part of this contract, WCA will provide new, 65-gallon carts for both trash and recycling. Carts will be delivered to Mission households beginning Wednesday, December 4. Cart deliveries will be conducted from approximately 7 a.m. until 4 p.m. and are expected to be completed by Monday, December 9.

Collection of Waste Management carts is expected to occur that week or the following week on your regular collection day. More information will come from Waste Management about the collection of the current carts. Residents should begin using the new WCA carts after Waste Management carts have been removed.

An introductory letter from WCA with information about their services will be sent in the coming weeks. Though residents should begin using WCA carts once they have been distributed, WCA will not begin as the official service provider until the new contract begins on January 1, 2020.

Transition Timeline:

  • December 2-9, 2019 – WCA trash and recycling carts distributed.
  • December 9-16  – Waste Management carts collected on resident regular trash day.
  • January 1, 2020 – WCA will begin as the City of Mission’s solid waste collection provider.
