Giving and Volunteering Opportunities in November
Posted on Wednesday November 06, 2019
The Family Adoption Committee has several opportunities for giving during the month of November. Please see details for ways to donate or volunteer.
Warm Items and White Sock Donations: Packages of new, white socks may be donated for people experiencing homelessness at the Community Center until Thursday, November 21.
The Uplift van will once again be collecting items for the people the organization serves on Thursday, November 21 from 8-noon at the north parking lot of the Community Center. They can use donations of coats, blankets, scarves, gloves, sleeping bags and new white socks. Paperback books and candles are also accepted. If you cannot drop items off after 8 a.m., you may drop items at the north desk of the Community Center on the morning of the 21st only.
Food and Money Donations: Collections are now open at the Community Center and at local businesses for non-perishable food items for our local adopted families. You may also contribute a financial donation of any amount, large or small, in cash or check made to the City of Mission Charitable Fund and drop it off at the Community Center to the attention of Kathy Lockard.
Volunteering: Volunteers will assemble food baskets with all the fixings for a full Thanksgiving meal as well as non-perishable food items at the Sylvester Powell, Jr. Community Center on Monday, November 25 at 8 a.m.
Thank you for participating in whatever way you can.
