Gateway (Roe and Johnson Drive) - The project includes nearly 570,000 sq. ft. of mixed-use development. The photo below looks southeast from the corner of Johnson Drive and Roeland Drive. Shawnee Mission Parkway runs diagonally across the back of the development in the photo.

Gateway Project Detail

Cinergy - A 90,000 sq. ft. entertainment venue that will include a 10-screen movie theater complex, a 16-lane bowling alley, escape rooms, an elevated rope course with zip lines, and a game floor with 100 interactive games. Final grading of the site has been completed, foundation footings have been installed and the concrete floor has been poured. The steel frame exterior walls are in place. The building is expected to be completed and opened by the holiday season of 2020.

Parking Structure - The parking structure will have four levels, including the ground floor with 1,098 covered parking spaces. Foundation footings for the parking struction are currently being installed. Construction has begun and the parking structure is targeted to be completed by early 2021. Element Hotel - The Marriott hotel will have 202 rooms in seven stories with an indoor pool, breakfast bar, and meeting spaces. The hotel will be located at the northeast corner of Shawnee-Mission Parkway and Roeland Drive. Review of Review of construction documents for the Element hotel has been completed and a permit for footings and foundation work released.  Construction is expected to begin this winter with an anticipated completion date of late summer 2021. Apartments and Small Shops - Three four-story builidngs with 169 one- and two-bedroom apartment units are planned above 54,000 sq. ft. of ground-floor retail. The apartments and retail will be located at the southeast corner of Johnson Drive and Roeland Drive. A structural analysis of the work that has been done to date on the apartment buildings and small shops is underway right now. Construction is expected to resume this winter with an anticipated completion date of summer 2021. Food Hall- The food hall will be two stories, 40,000 sq. ft. on Johnson Drive, just west of Roe Avenue. The food hall will include a 7,000 sq. ft. sit-down restaurant and a general dining hall with 14 food stalls offering culinary experiences from local chefs. A market and florist is also planned as well as an outdoor area for games and small concerts. The food hall will be curated by Tom Colicchio of the Food Network. The architecture firm NSPJ has been selected along with MG2 as the designers of the food hall. Work is expected to begin in summer 2020, and completed by late 2021.

Office Building - The office building will be three stories, 76,500 sq. ft. adjacent to Shawnee Mission Parkway. The Planning Commission has approved final design concepts and construction is expected to begin in summer 2020 and completed by the end of 2021.
