Current Development Projects

Gateway Rendering2 Jan 2019Gateway (Roe and Johnson Drive) - Construction is underway for the first phase of the project which includes three apartment buildings at the corner of Johnson Drive and Roeland Drive. Each building will be four stories with retail shops on the ground floor. Design of the hotels at the corner of Shawnee Mission Parkway and Roeland Drive is underway and construction is expected to begin next summer.

The developer has engaged Colliers to assist with leasing. View the Colliers project materials here.

The project will include:

  • 168 apartments over retail (along Roe and Johnson Drive)
  • 100,000+  sq.ft. of retail/entertainment space
  • 40,000 sq.ft. food hall currated by Tom Colicchio
  • 200 room Element hotel

 

Mission Trails Rendering 2018Mission Trails Project (6201 Johnson Drive) - Construction is underway for the Mission Trails multi-family/mixed use project developed by  EPC Real Estate Group.

The project will include: 

  • 200 luxury apartments
  • Ground level restaurant space
  • Parking garage with public parking on ground level.



Martway Apartment Project
 (6005-6045 Martway) - After revisions, the Martway Mixed Use Development Preliminary Site Plan was approved in April 2018. The approved mixed use project contains first floor retail with 3 stories of apartments above with approximately 90 units. The developer has not submitted a Final Site Development Plan to the City, and no construction date has been identified at this time.

Tidal Wave Auto Wash (6501 Johnson Drive) - The Tidal Wave Auto Wash Final Site Plan at the site of the former Valero station, was approved in April 2018. The plan includes two buildings - a single story car wash tunnel located on the southern portion of the site, and a two story vacuum bay/office building fronting Johnson Drive. Building plans are under review.

Sandhills Brewing (5612 Johnson Drive) - The Special Use Permit was approved in August 2018. Construction is underway and the owners anticipate opening in February 2019.

Rockcreek Brewing Co.
 (5880 Beverly) - The Special Use Permit was approved in August 2018. The building formerly housed Run Rite Automotive. The owners anticipate opening in spring of 2019.

5438 Johnson Drive - The City Council recently approved a preliminary development plan for property located at the northeast corner of Johnson Drive and Nall Avenue.  This is currently the site of a Pride Cleaners retail outlet. The owner intends to demolish the building and construct a building with a two-story appearance on the site that will have on street parking. Application for final development plan has not been made yet, and there is no set date for when construction will begin.
